KERRY ITCHING TO GIVE PIRATES A SEVERE TONGUE-LASHING
"AMERICAN MUST TALK SOFTLY AND BURY THE BIG STICK" SAYS SENATOR
As the Somali pirates have their way with the American merchant ship Maersk Alabama Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee John Kerry declared it was high time to discuss the parameters of response the United States might use in dealing with the increasingly bold and daring Somali pirates.
Perhaps he should look to examples in history for some of his ideas. When the pirates of Tripoli were making a point of raiding American shipping in the nineteenth century, President Jefferson wasted no time sending the United States Navy and Marines to put down the pirates once and for all.
Of course, Senator Kerry is against any further expenditures for the military, so maybe his solution would be to palaver them into submission.
